PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh

PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh (SEML) is a joint venture company between Supreme Energy, INPEX Corporation, and Sumitomo Corporation, managing the Geothermal Working Area (WKP) of Liki Pinangawan Muara Laboh, located in Solok Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province. The project began with a preliminary survey in 2008.

Following the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PT PLN (Persero) in 2012, the project advanced through exploration, well testing, and feasibility studies. SEML reached Financial Close in 2017, supported by a consortium of international lenders, and began the development and construction phase of the geothermal power plant in 2017. The generated electricity is transmitted through a 150 kV High Voltage Transmission Line (SUTT) and connected to the Sumatra electricity toll road network owned by PT PLN (Persero), under a 30-year PPA agreement—demonstrating SEML’s strong contribution to one of its key stakeholders in strengthening the national power infrastructure.

Muara Laboh Unit 1 commenced commercial operations on December 16, 2019, and currently delivers 86 MW (net) of clean and reliable electricity to the national grid. Beyond contributing to national energy security, Unit 1 has also delivered tangible benefits to the surrounding community through job creation, support for local businesses, CSR programs, and environmental protection efforts.

Building on this success, SEML is now developing Muara Laboh Unit 2, which reached key milestones in 2024, including the PPA amendment signing, tariff approval, and EPC contract execution. In 2025, the project achieved Financial Close and continues to progress toward its targeted Commercial Operation Date (COD) in 2027 with an estimated capacity of 80 MW. Planning for Unit 3, with a capacity of 60 MW, is also underway and targeting COD in 2034.

The expansion of Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Plant Unit 2 is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 938,000 tons per year, while contributing significantly through royalty payments and production bonuses to the local government.

Additionally, the construction of Supreme Energy Muara Laboh Unit 2 will create business opportunities and generate over 1,000 local jobs during the construction phase. It will also drive economic growth in Solok Selatan, West Sumatra, while prioritizing responsible management of social, environmental, and biodiversity impacts.

PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh remains fully committed to delivering long-term value to Indonesia through sustainable geothermal development.
